Somebody That I Used To Know | TAB
There are two chord progressions to look at in order to play this tune. The intro and verse are just Dm – C, however, we need to vary the way it’s played to create an interesting part.
Here’s one idea of how you could do this, I’ve varied the rhythm as well as C or C5.

Here’s another way you could play it, using open-position chords.

Once you can play both examples, see if you can combine them and maybe mix up the rhythm a bit, play along to the original recording and aim to make it feel natural.
Here’s a third and final idea of what that may look like:

Let’s now move on and take a look at the chorus. We now use chord IV as well, a Bb. Here’s idea 1.

Let’s try playing the Bb as a G shape instead and change the rhythm just a little for the first C.

Here’s the last chorus idea. Now we use an open A to go from C to Bb.

Before I sign off, here’s a way to play the second half of the female verse, we now incorporate a C6 and ignore the Dm chord.
