Lyin’ Eyes | TAB
I spent many hours considering how to best incorporate the guitars and bass from the original recording into one acoustic guitar arrangement.
Here’s what I came up with for the intro.
Make sure you can see how all intervals played in relation to each chord make up the chord name, like this:
- Cmaj13 starts with a Cmaj7, and then includes the 6th interval, 6 is the same as 13.
- A7sus2 starts with an A5, then finds the b7 and 9, without a 3rd a 9 is a sus2.
- D6add4 starts with a D6 then moves down and finds the the 4th and 3rd
Here’s the first verse.
I’ve put in when to alternate the bass as chords here, but not with the chords and lyrics. On the recording, the bass alternates in both bars but it felt better to only do it in the first so: G – G/D – G, etc.
Here’s verse 2, make sure you compare it to verse 1!
Only two bars are different, can you find them?
Here’s verse 3, now I can’t use a repeat sign as there are more changes, can you find them all?
Finally, here’s the chorus. It’s not easy to play in a relaxed manner, but if you do, it’ll sound fantastic, especially if you have a few people singing harmony!
