If you’ve been playing along with the original recording using the chords, lyrics and chord chart, but now want to start alternating that bass, allow me to give you some TAB detailing this.

Let’s start working on including a bass line on beats 1 and 3. Below is a simple concept alternating it using the 5th of the chord.

I’ve now written out all chords, so Cm, Cm/G, etc, with lyrics I felt this was unnecessary as once you understand the concept, too many chords make it look cluttered.

Also, try using the m3rd of the Gm when you move up to the Cm or D7. The chord shape then needs to change from an Em shape, to a Gm shape, like this:
