Beyond (Leon Bridges) Guitar Lesson with TAB

Beyond Guitar Lesson + TAB
In this guitar lesson, we start with learning the provided TAB for the intro, this makes the rest of the tune self-explanatory!

Beyond | TAB (capo 6)

All you need to get the right feel is TAB for the intro. Fit a capo on fret 6 and play this:

Beyond TAB, intro.

There is some lovely syncopated chord work there, and that opening Major Pentatonic lick is great too.

Writing the intro with chords and lyrics, I felt G, with G6 in brackets, then G with C/G in brackets made the most sense, like this:

| G (G6) |
||: G (C/G) :|| x4

But here with TAB, it feels less necessary. The G chord doesn’t even return which is what a chord in brackets is supposed to indicate, it is however late in the bar.

In the chord chart, it was easier to describe this by putting it on beat 4, just like you saw with the TAB here.

To learn how to play Beyond, you do need the chords with lyrics, the chord chart, the TAB, and a play-along with the original recording.
