Beautiful | TAB
There are plenty of TAB to get through here, let’s start with the verse, thinking in the key of D, using a capo on fret 1. This is a good and easy place to start.
I wanted to keep the chords compact so the D5/A was chosen, instead of a D. It brings it closer to the other chords and saves the full triad for later in the song.
Let’s remove that capo and look at two ideas for playing in Eb, here’s idea 1.
I’m sticking to playing on strings 2-5 here, this leaves space for the vocal.
Let’s look at a way to make the chords bigger, perhaps when there is no vocal or if you want more.
Try all three ideas along with the original recording, or my version, then move on to look at the chorus, here it is with a capo.
We can think in G although that first chord feels like it’s chord IV…
In G, the chords are I – VI – V – IV – III. This makes complete sense apart from that the G doesn’t feel like chord I.
In D, the progression is V – II – I – bVIIx – VI. I believe the truth is that these two keys are blended.
Anyway, here’s the chorus without a capo.
It would be accurate to call the Ab an Ab5, same goes for the F, call it an F5. Should you want to play the full triads, it’s Ab – Fm. Do experiment with playing more of the chord.
Play along with the original, and my version before you move on, looking at the full arrangement of what I played.
