What’s Love Got to Do with It | TAB
If Tina Turner‘s What’s Love Got to Do With It chords are not impressing you, then maybe chords are not your thing!
I feel the best way to understand this masterpiece is to work out how to play these chords on one acoustic guitar, let’s start with the intro, here’s the TAB:
The G#m11 and G#11 (also known as an F#/G#) are setting us up for the verse. What we’re doing here is just incorporating that little melody.
Here are the verse chords. Now we have to imitate the drum beat, which looks like this using TAB:
I love how the G#11 is cut short before we go to the E chord. By the way, it is not until now that we can tell what the key is, E and F# are two major chords a tone apart, they must be IV – V, so the key is B.
Here’s the chorus, with TAB!
Honestly, this is one of the most amazing bass lines/chords I’ve come across, it’s so funky!
The keyboards play the root of that G#m/A# but it’s a bit much on one acoustic so I scrapped it. The B that preseeds it is so cool!
I’ve called G#11 and F#/G# here, and the reason for that is because the second time we play this, it’s straight to an F#, such a fantastic variation, so simple.
For the rest of this tune, we simply transpose it all a tone up and play more choruses. There is a 2/4 bar at the end of every repeated chorus to look out for.
Finally, there’s a middle 8 section. Employ a similar approach to how I described the verse above for this section, here are the chords:
| Db11 | Db | Db11 | Db |
| Aadd9 | B/A | Abm11 | Dbadd9 N.C |
