The Needle And The Damage Done | TAB
Let’s look at all of Needle And The Damage Done’s chords using TAB. Here’s the intro, which after you’ve understood and memorized, could go back to just reading the chords and lyrics and/or the chord chart.
That initial D chord is a hammer-on, there are loads of gentle strumming using two strings throughout. Those F extensions sound more complex than they, it’s pretty easy once you can see them in TAB like this.
Here’s the verse TAB.
Notice how this is just a simplified version of the intro. Partly this is because it’s hard to play all those notes when singing, but more importantly, it leaves more room for the vocal to shine this way.
Practice both sections using the video at the top of the page and you’ll soon be able to play The Needle And The Damage Done’s chords, just like Neil does.
When you can do it, you’ll be amazed how many other songs have “been inspired” by these chords. I’ll give you one example to prove the point, Jewel’s You Were Meant For Me.
