Kiss | TAB
Kiss is a blues format tune that stretches over 24 bars, rather than 12, find out more in the chords lesson.
Here, we look at the unusual and therefore signature chord, the unique way the dom9 chord is voiced.
Let’s first look at the traditional “James Brown 9 chords”, and then how Prince has changed it for Kiss where we use the upper part of an E shape.

For verse 3‘s final turnaround, Prince plays the Kiss signature 9 chords over the turnaround as constant 16th notes, reminiscent of Curtis Mayfield’s classic Move On Up, which looks like this in TAB.
On a final note, the solo is played using a G shape for the A7 – A6 movement, can you work it out?
