The Look Of Love | TAB (capo 4)

Let’s go through all of The Look Of Love‘s sections using TAB as if you’re playing this tune on your own.

Consistency is key here when and the main focus has to be the bass line rhythm to get the same feel as the original recording.

Here’s the verse.

The Look Of Love TAB, verse.

We think as if in the key of Am as the capo is on fret 4, this makes the Roman Numerals this for the first 8 bars:

| Am7 (VI) | A7sus4 | Em (III) | Em7 |
| Fmaj7 (IV) | F6 | E7sus4 (III) | E7 (IIIx) |

The second half of this verse is more complex:

| Am7 (VI) | A7sus4 | F6 (IV) | F6 |
| Fm6 (IVm) | Cmaj7 (I) C7 (I7) |
| Fmaj7 (IV) | Fmaj7 | E7sus4 (III) E7 (IIIx) | Am7 (VI) D7 (IIx) |

There are a few things to point out here.

IV – IVm (F – Fm). The next part that stands out is C7 which leads to F more.

The final Am7D7 feels like a II – V in the key of G but it is technically a VI – IIx in Am. Bridging two keys like this is very common.

Here’s the chorus, it’s just I – V. Apart from the 2/4 bar there’s nothing strange going on here. I’ve kept the arrangement super simple.

The Look Of Love TAB, chorus.

Finally, here’s the outro.

The Look Of Love TAB, outro.

Practice each section individually before you play along with Dusty.
