I Feel Good | TAB
Let’s look at all of I Feel Good’s chords and riffs in detail to ensure you get this one just right, starting with the verse chords.
| N.C | D7 | D7 | D7 | D7 |
| G9 | G9 | D7 | D7 |
| A7 | G7 | Riff 1 | Riff 1 |
Straight away we have a potential problem, do you start it as the record (snare + whoa!), or with riff 1? This is seemingly the eternal question for function bands that form in the car park, half an hour before the wedding.
Once you’re in, it’s basically a standard blues with a riff at the end. I do think you should play all chords as dom7, apart from G and maybe even the A which sounds better as a 9 chords.
Here’s riff 1 in TAB.
Before we get to I Feel Good’s bridge chords, which move: IV – I – IV – V, and look like this with extensions:
| G9 | G9 | D7 | D7 |
| G9 | G9 | A9 | N.C |
Before this happens, there’s an instrumental section over a D7 chord, I’ve called this riff 2. This is actually a Dm7 arpeggio, it looks like this in TAB:
This is essentially the entire tune. The only part left is the legendary end section which is an extension of what riff 1 was. I’ve called this riff 3, looks like this in TAB:
Do ensure you get all of I Feel Good’s chords and riffs right as you’ll play this one for as long as you stay in the game, it just always works!
