Echo Beach | TAB
Let’s go through the various sections of Echo Beach, here’s the intro:

This could be in the key of C or G meaning the Am is Aeolian or Dorian. The ambiguity of this is what gives it a harmonic edge.
In G we move II – V – IV, In C we move VI – II – I.
The Am9 does contain m3rd, 9, b7. D has no 3rd. The C is first maj7, then C, this is the only variation to the riff.
Here’s the next section which is later the outro. This is very clever, they’ve planted a seed.

We are now definitely in the key of Am so: VI – V – III – IV – V.
Here’s the verse, now we’re in the key of G, so Am is II, not VI as we go to V – IV, then II – V – VI.

The chorus is still in the key of G as we go I – V, and then II – VI.
